Why Do I Need The "Drama Toolbox"?
Planning and diversifying lesson content is a challenge that every teacher faces every day.
Children learn in different ways and have different learning styles. The key to keeping them motivated and learning effectively is continually introducing fresh activities that stimulate all their senses.
But who has the time to constantly create tantalizing new lesson content when there are only so many hours in the day? You’re too busy teaching!
What happens is that teachers often resort to REUSING the same activities over and over. Done repeatedly, it becomes routine and switches children off from learning.
The English Drama Toolbox© (Fall /Winter Edition) training course is designed to save you time and solve your lesson content struggles.
The aim of the training is to provide you with a toolbox full of practical English teaching resources you can use with young students, whether you’re teaching a class, an after-school program, or at a holiday camp.
These tools will transform your teaching and give you confidence and clarity to use drama to teach English.

Program Coach
Miranda Flynn Legge is an English through Drama expert and the founder of The Kids English Theatre Method©.
Miranda is a British actor and graduate of the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she won a scholarship and was trained by prominent international directors and mentors including the world’s foremost voice coach, Patsy Rodenburg. She also shared studies with fellow actors Joseph Fiennes, Damien Lewis, Ewen McGregor, and Daniel Craig.
In 1995, Miranda emigrated to Italy and co-founded Catalyst Theatre Company in Florence. She also won a Prince's Trust award that same year to develop her work at an international level with Catalyst.
Furthermore Miranda is an accredited English language teacher with a CELTA Certificate from Cambridge University and has worked extensively teaching thousands of children of all ages and abilities.
With over 25 years’ experience working as a professional actor, English language teacher, and drama coach, Miranda has seen first-hand the real advantages that theatre techniques can offer English language learners.
In 2004, she created “Teatro Inglese Per Bambini©”, a unique English and theatre after-school program for children ages 4 to 10 based in Florence, Italy. Miranda established the first ever Mummy & Me & SuperStar groups in Italy to adopt the Kids English Theatre Method© .
"I believe that if a child’s first encounter with English is theatrical, active and fun, they will love language learning forever. This belief has been consolidated over the years by the parents and teachers that share with us how their children’s experience following our method encourages them to be more expressive and confident communicating in English."
The Kids English Theatre Teacher Training Academy was founded in 2017. Since then, hundreds of language teachers from around the globe have completed K.E.T. Live & Online training courses.
Miranda's experience in teaching children using the Kids English Theatre Method© has shown her how children learn fastest and what they find most enjoyable.
All her drama activities, chants, role-plays, and stories have been researched and developed over the years. She constantly devises new activities to accompany the lessons, concocting new stories, language games and elaborating comedy skits, puppet plays and chants.
Most importantly, all her exercises have been successfully tried and tested in the classroom. That’s why she can help you save time in structuring your lessons and guide you to develop ideas that will make your lessons creative and engaging straight away.
Miranda also participates in national and international conferences and university seminars for nursery and primary school educators, where she coaches others on how to apply theatre techniques to teaching English.

Student Spotlight Stories
Exactly one year ago, I decided I was going to teach English to children. Over the last couple of years, I used to organize English storytelling for kids and during one of them, last year, I was asked if I could teach on a regular basis.
And I said, why not?
But I didn't have any teaching method, as I didn't study to be a teacher so I started searching for tips and inspiration on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, everywhere. I came across your Insta profile and that was it: I realized that that was the method for me!
So, in November I started my class, along with your online training and I said to myself I was giving it a year: if it didn't work at least I tried!
Six months later this is what I have:
- a class of 35 kids (3 to 5 y.o.) in a private kindergarten
- a class of 16 kids (6 to 10 y.o.) after school programme
- a private group of 6 kids (3 to 8 y.o)
- private lessons at home
I have been using all the activities you showed during the training and I also followed the Summer Edition Toolbox; I had a lot of struggles with class management but with your tips I did it!
So last week I did the final show with the afterschool kids and the big group of 35 and it was a huge success! All the parents were so happy and gave me amazing feedback!
So, the private kindergarten asked me if I want to be an effective part of their teaching programme next year and I am going to do the Summer Camp with them in July! I am so excited!!!!
Seems I am going to be a teacher for a long time! And I love it!

My name is Tina Kranidiotou, and I'm from the island of Samos in Greece.
I started teaching English in my ex-teacher's Language School and eventually opened my own Language School in 1994. It started small, but over time my son and daughter joined me in the family business.
I've always wanted to be a great teacher, and I've always wanted my own students to remember our time together fondly, even if they don't become fluent speakers of English.
However, there were a few challenges I faced in my teaching career. One of them was my fear of speaking in public, which made it difficult to organize events with parents.
I also had trouble keeping my very young students interested in every lesson and managing the behaviour of some of my older, bored students.
Then, I discovered Miranda's Academy and started watching her videos on YouTube. When the English Drama Toolbox Course was announced, I decided to give it a go.
It was one of the best decisions I ever made for my teaching career.
The English Drama Toolbox Course was amazing, and I loved everything about it. I tried some of the ideas with my students and they loved them.
The skits, in particular, were beyond my expectations. I was so close to the end-of-year celebration and had been looking for something funny and simple for my students to learn, with easy props and costumes.
Then, I watched all the skits in one night and knew I had found what I was looking for.
My students loved the skits and learned their parts quickly. Even the very young ones learned an alphabet chant by heart.
However, the biggest challenge was still to come: appearing in front of parents.
I had always avoided it in the past. But with Miranda's encouragement to get out of my comfort zone, I finally did it. I acted out a chant with my young ones, did four skits, and played treasure hunt with all the students in front of more than 150 parents.
I am so proud of myself for overcoming my fears, even at the age of 52. I owe it all to Miranda for broadening my horizons and giving me the boost I needed. Thank you so much, Miranda, from the bottom of my heart!
Me and my students are so lucky to have met you. We're already organizing things for the next school year, and I can't wait to see what other adventures lie ahead!

Since 2018, I've been working as a kindergarten teacher in China, teaching both regular classes and a supplemental class called Sing Song. I absolutely love working with children and teaching English, and as a former singer, I decided to combine all three in my Sing Song class to create a fun and effective learning experience for my students.
But after teaching the same material for a few years, I needed some new inspiration. That's when I came across the English Drama Toolbox.
I had already watched many of Miranda's teaching videos on YouTube, and I was amazed at all the great ideas she had. The way she taught lessons made it easy for kids to understand and enjoy themselves at the same time, which was exactly what I wanted to achieve in my own classroom.
By using many of Miranda's teaching ideas, I found that my students loved them and responded really positively. It was like magic!
The English Drama Toolbox was a perfect fit for me, too. Being based in China, it's often difficult for me to participate in live programs from the US or Europe, due to time zone differences and scheduling conflicts.
But the course allowed me to work at my own pace and learn when it suited me best.
I've been able to use many of the ideas from the course with other classes over time, but the most helpful for me were the chants and props. My students loved the chants and learned them really quickly, which was a great tool to get them speaking English in a short amount of time. The drama skits were also a favourite of mine.
What's great about the course is that my fundamental teaching style remains consistent, providing stability for the children, the classroom, and the school. However, the new material and lessons have brought in fresh approaches and experiences that the children love.
Last week our school held the annual competition ‘SUPER ENGLISH SPEAKERS’. 10 of my children participated in the event. Miranda, I am happy to tell you that 5 of my children from my after-school class bagged the prize as 1st and 2nd placers. As an entry piece for the contest, I gave them your famous BUTTERFLY CHANT, THE BEE CHANT AND THE FLOWER CHANT. We also used all your props ideas, they all won…a big thanks to you Miranda.
